clay Ceramics Handbuilding: Practical Art artisan Sheila Cavanaugh will be instructing the kids on how to make a coil pot! A little keepsake pot for themselves or for your desk: they'll construct their piece and learn techniques to personalize it, select a glaze, and then be able to pick up the finished, fired piece at a later date.
clay II Ceramics Handbuilding II: Practical Art artisan Jared Tolson will be helping your small folks craft small keepsake boxes and windchimes! They'll construct their pieces and learn techniques to personalize it, select a glaze, and then be able to pick up the finished, fired piece at a later date.
frame making Re-thinking the Photo Frame: Practical Art artisan Andrew Seiferth explores handmade, reclaimed, and altered frames in his own art practice, and now he's super excited to encourage kids to think outside of the box in creating their own! (This is a great pairing for kids that have taken a Morning Photo Walk!)
hemp jewelry Hemp Jewelry: Great jewelry construction class for both guys and gals! The kids will learn to make bracelets and necklaces with a material that's been used for centuries. Once they've learned the process, this is a hobby they can keep up very easily at home!

knit Learn to Knit!: Young guys and gals will learn introductory skills and beginning stitches (i.e. finger weaving!) on their way to completing some great starter projects that put the fun in FUNctional! Bookmarks, footbags ("hackey sacks"), wallets, wristcuffs, etc! Kids can attend additional knitting classes to learn follow-up techniques, alternate stitches, and other projects for varying levels.
paint Hosted by The Bergamot Institute: Painting/Collage on reclaimed panel: This session features reclaimed and primed cupboard doors, acrylic paints, smocks, brushes, and some clippings of texts and other small items suitable for collage (or bring your own pictures and images!). The kids will have assistance to create and take home their own large masterpiece.

paper marble Paper Marbling: Mostly like it sounds! Kids will have an opportunity to create beautiful, colorful abstract works in a liquid medium that is then transferred to specially treated base papers. Once the paper is dry, we can make cards, bookmarks, and even take-home starters for other arts projects!

photo Morning Photo Walk: Is your child an aspiring photographer? They can bring their camera (or borrow yours!) and take a short walk with professional photographers who practice in a range of disciplines: fine art, photojournalism, sports photography, event and product photography, and more. Kids will learn artistic elements of photography such as lighting and composition, as well as tips on how to pursue photography professionally.
printmaking Printmaking with Vegetation: Chris Porter, the lovely wife of master wood-turner Paul Porter and avid Practical Art book club attendee, will be showing the young folks multiple processes to create print work-- from hammered plant prints to potato carving and more! Best part: the kids can do it at home again & again!
sculpt Hosted by The Bergamot Institute: Upcycle Sculpture: We will have plastic bags, cans, cardboard, clay, wire, and all sorts of other bits of "junk" (Have something at home that would be interesting to re-use? Bring it along!). We will demonstrate some examples of what can be done (like animals, insects, imaginary creatures, abstract art) and assist the kids in creating recycled sculptures to take home.
watercolor Watercolor: Chris Porter, the lovely wife of master wood-turner Paul Porter and avid Practical Art book club attendee, will be educating your kiddos on the history and tradition of watercolor, showing them introductory non-traditional techniques, and emphasizing how art can be PRACTICAL by helping the kids create a watercolor masterpiece for their pillow!
